Initiate-request extensions (IRX) are used for initiating requests. It is of variable length, is not initialized by DBCHINI, and is allocated by the application. The DBCAREA Extension Pointer field points to IRX. IRX does not exist if there is a zero in the DBCAREA Extension Pointer field.

The IRQ Ext provides support for parameterized SQL, which is used by the Preprocessor2. It also provides support for TDSP, providing MultiTSR options.
