Message Charset Used is a 1-byte character field that indicates the character set used to construct the message. The value of this field is set by CLIv2 rather than by the application.
  • 'S' indicates that the session character set is used.
  • 'D' indicates that the default CLIv2 character set (ASCII) is used.

The session character set is always used if known, but if an error occurs before the character set is known, the default CLIv2 character set is used.
